ImageXpert announces ImageXpert Solar- a line scan based system for solar cell inspection.

Built specifically to provide R&D environments with quick feedback about product and process quality, ImageXpert solar hopes to fill a niche in support of the rapid development of new solar technologies, materials and processes.
The ImageXpert Solar analysis system uses a 1-D line scan camera with 6K elements for high speed imaging. Flexible illumination options and combinations allow for analysis of a wide variety of materials and defect types.
The unit has a small footprint for lab and production use: 3' x 3' x 2' table-top unit. A base is available to create a stand-alone unit.
Image capture and analysis are performed in about 30 seconds per part (5 seconds per 6" scan, multiple scans needed for full part coverage at 5µm per pixel, 2 seconds per scan transition).
Powerful ImageXpert software is used for image analysis. Measurements can be assessed against tolerances, and data can be archived in tab-delimited text data file format for maximum portability.
"By providing the solar industry with objective measurement equipment that provides insight into cell quality during R&D", ImageXpert's president, Yair Kipman says, "materials and systems can be assessed earlier in the development process allowing for modifications and optimization".
